"Soldier of Fortune" by Deep Purple and a sign of what was to come from the guitar God that is Ritchie Blackmore.

    She’s gone Hall and Oates
I think you'll find that it was originally named 'Cheese Scone'.

Mmmm…..what’s the actual definition of a Ballad? Slow tempo or something else?
Anything you slow danced to at a 3rd year senior school disco.
That was definitely….…’Move Closer’ by Phyllis Nelson…. 3

    Bob Dylan - Sara.

Only he could write a song like that and leave you wondering if he actually meant it. My fav Dylan album too.

I think this classes as a ballad and was banned by General Franco from being played in Spain for a long time. This song is absolutely brilliant and is typical of the brilliance and the connection that Neil has with music, life and history. Very much the thinking man's musician. Southern man might not have needed him around but everybody else did.

    "Cortez the Killer"

Bit of an obscure one, but The Shoreline and the Sea by Reg Meuross. There's a verse in there that gets me hard in the feels every time.
"I knew a man who lived alone
I met him by my fireside
He watched the dying flame and moaned
    "I can't recall when last i cried
    I know i had a lover once
She used to come and go with me
And we were happy in the dance
Like the shoreline and the sea"

I'd Rather Go Blind….Chicken Shack version with Christine Perfect (McVie was her married surname) on vocals.

Loved it ever since it was released in 1969.
