    There is no situation in which a whole class detention is appropriate, unless the teacher can be sure the whole class is at fault.. If the teacher was taught to teach by anyone with any skills whatsoever they should have been told that. But this teacher has already admitted its not fair so it's moot. If you really don't agree simply say you do not give permission for the detention. I don't know why but people seem afraid of of schools.
