I almost mentioned Duran Duran in this thread, but the first track on their first album is Girls On Film, which - great though it is - is not as good as Planet Earth, which is the second track.
    "Planet Earth" is brilliant.

As is "To Cut a Long Story Short", which - a bit of research has just shown me -  was the first track on Spandau Ballet's first album.  Shame it was all downhill after that.

Yup, "Planet Earth" is the best.

I would say Hunting High And Low and The Sun Always Shines On TV were better :).

@Fretwired ; ....  it is Lee "Scratch" Perry's finest work IMO.  The whole album, and the 12" dub mixes from it are classic.  I first heard John Peel play it when it came out -- went and got it and have been playing it ever since.

Roscoe by Midlake from The Trials of Van Occupanther.

Ok, that's their second album but the first album, Bamnan and Silvercork, is so bad and unrepresentative of everything that has followed that I invoke my right to pretend it doesn't exist.
