It's a real shame this has gone - for both the workforce and customers.

"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone." - Walt Kowalski

"Only two things are infinite - the universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein

I don't think it's going to be quite as bargaintastic as you think.

Read the bit about the buyers fee (20.5% + vat) and then add VAT as well!

So basically take the winning bid and add 45% and that's the real price!!!!!!!!

I'd think most people would be bidding in full knowledge of that, so everything's going to go for a stupid-cheap bid price.

There's more than a few Budda amps on there, and a bunch of other things I don't think would get much attention but I really want ;)

However, life goes on etc etc. So I reckon I might try my luck on a Classic 30!

That's probably how I wound up getting my Raptor Junior for £45 recently, direct from Peavey...

It's amazing how Peavey's fortunes have changed in Brittain - the days when everyone had a Peavey Bandit in their back line - or used a Peavey PA don't seem long ago.

I've always respected the brand - nothing fancy, just usable, well thought-out products which were widely available, at sensible money. Almost the ethos of the original Fender company....

I suspect this closure says as much about the size of the musical instrument market in the UK, as much as it does about Peavey.

Just making sure anyone on here thinking of bidding went in eyes open really.

I bet there will still be a few people who bid thinking the auction price is what they pay though.

  • Oh man, this is sad. Hopefully they can save themselves.

I'll be looking for a classic 50 head or a small Buddha head.

November 25th bookmarked, it's an online auction too, right?

  • I'm going to see if I can get to a viewing on Saturday.

I'd like to speak to some of the workers there and get a feel for what's going on for them and in the company in general, as well as look and see what they've got.

    Or another bass head.

Anyone know what the JSX cabs were like?

I live about a mile away. It's a blow to the town for sure. They only lost Oxford University Press a few years ago on the same industrial estate - still some big local employers - RS, Weetabix, Avon, etc, but I know a few people affected. Such a shame. But yeah some great deals to be had - def worth a look - some vintage gear on there too! And some rarities I quite fancy.
