Stuff you have on your CD shelf / ipod / wax cylinder collection that you wouldn't necessarily admit to on a first date..

A few of mine. I have no guilt over these, but I'm sure some of my friends would look twice if they spotted them.

ABBA - Super Trouper. Brilliant album, and Waterloo- surely the best pure pop song ever?
John Denver -  Various songs from my Mum's collection. Most of my early musical memories are here from car journeys as a little'un. Definitely the first thing that made me want to play guitar and probably the reason I latch onto harmony just as much as melody
Wheatus - Their cover of A Little Respect is just brilliant.

Anyone else?

One that I really like but wouldn't have listened to had it not been for t'other half- 'The Fear' by Lily Allen.
I think the lyrics are really quite clever, it's cynical, knowing, blah blah and the tune isn't half bad either. In fact, it's the sort of thing I'd be quite proud of, if I'd written it!

Oh, and a literally guilty pleasure- 'Everyone's Gone To The Moon' by Jonathan King which I liked for many years before his incarceration, but it's had to go 'underground' in recent years. Guilty by association.

    yup, ABBA here.

    David Gray.

this one is a bit difficult to admit to, but Beautiful by James Blunt. I'm gonna go ahead and blame a previously suppressed childhood trauma for that one.

I'm not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with me.

A couple of early Whitesnake albums. The music's great, but some of the lyrics are worthy of a vintage porn mag.

Everything else I have no guilt about whatsoever. I'm proud to like a wide variety of music - good, bad, quirky, cheesy and the rest...

ABBA and John Denver are both great. OK, I draw the line at Grandma's Feather Bed and a couple of others, but I just deleted those! I have every song ABBA ever released, as far as I know.

Take That, Katy Perry, Anastacia and David Gray here too.

    Avril Lavigne
What I don't get about her is that her first two albums are very good - the second one especially, she was starting to mature quite well - but then the third one was a total pile of shit that sounded as if it was written by a 12-year-old. I haven't even bothered to find out what she's done since.

Same here. It's the first two I've got, and I much prefer the second one.

In the interests of research I downloaded the album after the shit one - Goodbye Lullaby - and I'm listening to it now. I think you'll like it, it's very good so far (lead single What The Hell excepted). I'm less keen that she described the one due out soon as "the next one will be pop and more fun again"... which sounds like it might be a return to 12-year-old music. Definitely listen before buy, I think.

In other similar news, I also like Kelly Clarkson a lot - Breakaway and My December especially. Not a 'guilty pleasure' either, but I know a lot of people who turn their noses up at the mainstream won't like her.

I've always found a place in my collection for the first All Saints album, under the auspices of it being for checking sound systems due to its phenomenal production (actually true, at least once upon a time)...

Most of everything posted so far due to a very eclectic taste.

Jennifer Rush The Power of Love, way better than horse face Celine Dion's version which is OK.

Babybird Your Gorgeous good silly fun,

Far to many cheesy pop, hip hop, rap and old skool rave/acid house stuff to mention. You know big fish, wee fish, cardboard box.

Several crooners and show type tunes both old and new, I was never confused though (copyright Al Murray/Pub Landlord).
