No reason to delete it; we don't have any problem with people discussing things like this (unlike other forums out there).

Unless there's a specific question to us, though, the modmins are basically staying out of it (I only posted 'cos of the thread title).

I think they should have a fight. A proper, gloves off, toe to toe straightener, with the loser being permanently banned from the forum. Interestingly (well, to me anyway) I post regularly on a football forum where there are lots of volatile characters. The admins/mods there are much, much more strict than on here. Any name calling gets an immediate 'infraction' with the tag note, "Attack the argument, not the individual". Three infractions and you're banned for life.

Actually I think this has been a pretty good thread for demonstrating how open moderation can work well. Everyone has aired their view, the mod team have cleared up misconceptions.

Ok there's still some people calling for the ban hammer but I think the general feeling on page 6 of this thread seems to be more jovial then page 1 don;t you think?
