I always hated the feel of dreads in mosh pits in my youth.
The claim of cultural appropriation seems a little odd considering the evidence of Celts, Romans, Egyptians, Babylonian, Spartans etc supposedly all having them.

I expect him to be called swampy and be living in a new age community and hugging trees.
Rastas have them as part of their whole culture/religious belief.
For me then, dreads on a non rasta is like a non sikh wearing a turban. Odd.
And I usually associate white people with dreads, with posh students called Guy, Tristram or Giles, who've gone "all whacky" now that they don't live (for a few months of the year), with mater & pater in Marlborough.
Yes, that's a bad stereotype, and judgemental I know.
I like wearing Turbans, keeps the sand out of your hair.
