As I may have said before, I'm a home delivery driver for Waitrose. A couple of months ago, I was making a delivery to a customer, and I was going through her substitutions with her.

"And instead of satsumas, you've been sent some mandarins," I told her.

"Really? Fair enough. I mean, I've never been able to tell the difference between satsumas and mandarins, to be fair," she replied.

"Well as far as I understand it, a satsuma is a small orange type of citrus fruit that's very juicy, very tangy and really easy to peel, whereas a mandarin is someone who's quite high up in the civil service."

I was quite proud of coming up with that right there and then.
