I'd love you to show examples of forum members trying to rip each other off - quite an accussation that
People sweating over resale value may not want a guitar for life and just want to scratch an itch. If I was spending serious money, I'd try every single one in store and in my local area used and pick the best one so it would be a true keeper. [/quote]
Totally agree, new or used doesnt matter to me, so long as its the right one!

Well, it may look like salt..
"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone." - Walt Kowalski
"Only two things are infinite - the universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein
Apologies for going off thread but I've just read DaLefty's comments and although being of the Clarke Kent mild mannered disposition really need to reply. I've been a member here for some time, don't comment a lot, but thoroughly enjoy a lot of the banter and have learnt so much for my modest self build projects. I've bought a few items, guitar, amp and bits and pieces, and I've paid what I wanted to pay for them. Was I being screwed over or ripped off? No, I paid what I wanted, for something I wanted.
And thank goodness for the know it all members, as mentioned I have learnt so much, so many invaluable tips.
'Piss takers' 'screwing over' 'ripping off'. Sorry DaLefty, this is not something I recognise from the Fretboard. I bloody well hope they get the pitchforks out on you.
Wisdom award, sir

But I do find two things odd.
First, I've seen ads on here for, say, '£500 firm' that have later made it to ebay, sold for £400, so the seller only made £350. Why not sell it on here for £350 in the first place.
Second, ads on here for £500 for a common item that is fetching around £400 on ebay, plainly visible in the ebay completed listings. It reminds me of seeing someone trying to part exchange a guitar in a shop years ago. The shop owner was clearly not interested in the guitar - maybe be a Tokai or similar - so he pointed the guy to a forum and said "sell it on there, those fools will pay over the odds". I hope no-one views this forum like that but I do wonder when I see some of the zero/few frets folks adverts.
