It is the same for all the popular brands and models.
Everything else is down to personal choice and budget.
I despise that degree of cork sniffery, with everything on '11' in a crowded pub who can tell or even care?
Remember, of the 1,500 or so Gibson les pauls made in 1958-1960, only about 3,000 still exist;-) Also among that hallowed few there are some beautiful instruments which are a real enlightenment to play, but there are some dogs too which have all the personality of a house brick.
Your Guitar is unique and personal, there is every reason to believe it is a cracking instrument so stick with it.
I like the good sounding ones. simples

it just reinforces my point because I bet a 2 piece modern les in the right hands could sound better than a vintage one.

To be fair I know you didn't sorry if it came across like that. So in all honesty hand on heart do you consider them true les Paul's or not? And if there was a 2013 for a 2 piece fingerboard would you buy it if it sounded amazing?
Or is the fretboard issue really a big issue to you personally?
@Bigwhoppit
I have a 2013 SG with two piece board, and I've owned 70s, 90s and a 2007 chambered Les Paul. They all sound the same to me.
Wood, strings, magnets and a lead. Its just the price I object to, and the constant changing of specs by Gibson.. I suppose the best way to sum up is 'Will the real Les Paul stand up'.

Really whys that? Just curious. :-)
