    Right then.

What's the most fun setting to arse about with using a standard (not Reflex) expression pedal?

I’m so bored I might as well be listening to Pink Floyd

I quite like sweeping the Deluxe Phaser with it - set the LFO "depth" to 0 and sweep the centre setting. Into filthy dirt if you like.

    Or sweeping reverb time.

Or have two pitch shifters in series, and sweep them in opposite directions. With a short 100% wet delay between them if that tickles yours.

The pitchshifting seems like a silly idea.

    Can't wait to try it!!

Also I have a lot of fun setting momentary switches to do things like octave up or octave down
Or ramp speed in leslies speed
Or switch delay feedback to 100% while held down

Let me know how it goes - it only occurred to me when you asked.

Assigning expression control to quantised settings can be interesting too - tremolo with the expression controlling the tap tempo division for dubstep wubbles mebbe? Or adjusting the number of stages in a phaser.

Or one I have tried; two parallel wahs, swept in opposite directions. That's quite nice.

    Ramping speed?

Are you getting a genuine ramp up and down or just an instant increase / decrease?

    Bah.

The usually good people at Studiospares have delivered the wrong patch cables.

I wanted angled on 1 end and straight on the other. I've got a whole set of straights. I'll have to send them back to swap them.

Still, my Mission expression pedal has arrived, so not all is lost.

The good people at the shop are sending me the proper ones... and "if" I can be bothered to send the others back they'll refund my postage. But I don't have to.

    Nice chaps.

    Geniune ramp up and down
I have a B9 in the loop that I put through the Leslie simulator (I forget which model ) and set the speed to 100 when I have the pedal down and it gives you a genuine ramp

Ah, I'll try a rotary rather than the univibe then. Thanks!

Apparently the rotary is better if you turn off cab sim when it's on, since it's acting as the cab

    Yup that is true
On my B9 patch I have one switch that switches off the drive pedals , the amps the cabs then switches in the Leslie and switches in the LA Compressor just to calm it down
All 7 things are bound to one footswitch

My cab sims are all off anyway.

Exactly that. All my patches with a Leslie have them flip/flop with an IR on the same footswitch.

my new Helix has a bad footswitch. FS9 intermittently fails to either activate or deactivate.

it's totally random, so maybe every 10 times you hit it theres one time when it sticks and doesn't do what it should.

back to Andertons it goes, no stock until end of May earliest. nowhere in UK has them.. looks like its going to be a long wait!!

Won't they just send it to Milton Keynes for a repair ?
Should take less than a couple of weeks?

I guess so, but it's more my personal issue of having a brand new piece of gear fail I'd rather have replacement over repair.

silly I know, maybe I'll change my mind as Andertons have offered the repair as an option.

I don't think that's silly - I felt the same way when I was offered a returned Helix to jump up the queue. It was all but new - still had most of the plastic - but I wanted brand-spanky.

Hope you get it sorted out either way - it is a brilliant bit of kit and it's a great shame yours isn't spot-on.

thanks Sporky, it is indeed a brilliant bit of kit. was finally getting my head around 4cm and send/return blocks!! going to be a long month or two waiting!

I have a suspicion that use of the send and return blocks, and some patch leads, would enable some very flexible routing. I think you could use the paths in more elaborate ways fer example.
