Steve Rothery sat on my sofa once.

I've also been in the congregation for Songs Of Praise (amazing how many extra people turned up that week).

I had a gun pointed at me during a petrol station robbery and the front page of the local paper quoted my sarcastic reply to a stupid question.

Meh...  I'd have been more impressed if you'd had a gun pointed at you in Songs of Praise.  "Sing, you muthafucka..."

My grandpa walked into Richard Dawkins who was cycling the other day and Dawkins said something like, Why can't you look where you're going? To which my Grandpa said - oh so sorry, it's in the genes you know.

I once ran through Euston station and ran straight into Nigel Havers.

I didn't realise he had an opening that big?

My second cousin, before his death , was James Hunt the F1 driver. I'm also fairly distantly related to Richard Stilgoe (definitely not as cool)
You get a wow as James Hunt was my favourite F1 driver ever, and Richard Stilgoe was someone that my whole family used to enjoy on TV back in the 70's.

If this thread tells us anything it's that being able to name-drop a celebrity is not "unusual". So I think you are sticking to the opening criteria more closely than most.

Good point CabaggeCat.  Is meeting someone an unusual fact about yourself?  Surely before you started reading this thread you'd be expecting bionic arms, alien abductions, sexual deviants or wiccan warlocks.  Considering the cult of celebrity and the resultant abundance of 'celebrities' then Vim's fact is indeed unusual.

I've met Vai and had a few beers with Billy Sheehan [who is a really nice guy. chatty, good fun, just one of the boys really]

met Satch and his band members a few times. I guess my claim to fame was that Satch had heard of me [and heard my playing] before we met. We shook hands, and I introduced myself and he said "ahh, so you're Clarky, cool. You're quite a player.."

Obviously that made me feel like I was 10' tall..

Clarky, you are in the music business so it is not unusual to meet those fellow musicians. What would be unusual is meeting the great Somalian athlete Mo Farah........
