kt66 has flounced. I’m not sure why he chose to do this, and to be honest I’ve got better things to do than read his posts to try to find out. We’ve restored most of the content which he deleted on his way out of the door.

FriskyDingo banned for trying to skirt the rules by posting a vague advert selling the same counterfeit bass that was previously removed.

This is an object lesson - I hate to be severe about this, but frankly we can't afford to defend the inevitable lawsuits that the original copyright holders have brought in the past. Bluntly, I'd rather have the forum exist than personally go bankrupt.

Today we’ve banned two spammers. They attempted to build credibility by starting threads using text copied from other guitar forums. Consequently they got sensible replies from our knowledgeable users. Please do flag if you think you find anyone else trying the same approach.

Jeddy3 is in the cooler for posting an ad for a shell pink strat.

My own views on taste aside, that in itself isn’t against the rules. However, posting an ad for a partscaster with a fender logo on the headstock is. 

So is not posting a picture of the headstock, even though it’s a fake. 

How did we know it was a fake? His text in the ad gave it away - “PM me for more pics so this doesn’t break the rules”

Similarly, when replying to a modmin PM asking why he’s posted an ad for a fake with no headstock pictures, doing a “you ain’t seen me, orlroit?” impression and then deleting all the pertinent ad content stating that it’s “gone” is a sure fire way to coolersville.

User sanders.1 banned. 

Some of you might have seen fendermadlewis’s brief thread on the subject. 

Here’s the reasons for the ban:

- Joined specifically to offer a guitar for a wanted ad
- Refused to trade on here and wanted it moved off the board
- Wouldn’t provide an address 
- Was in Scotland and Australia at the same time
- Refused PayPal and wanted wire transfer to an international  bank account 
- Had multiple names on multiple email accounts/bank accounts
- Insisted on buyers full bank account details and address

Yep - a scammer. Worth checking through that list above as in the heat of the moment it can be easy to fall foul when someone offers you that holy grail for a great price. 

Be careful out there folks.

He did however, describe the forum as “outdated and too frustrating and time consuming to use” which is probably an accurate representation of most of us....

Lardy is in the cooler for a week for a deliberate attempt to circumvent the rules regarding counterfeits. 

No matter how posh your guitar, a “replica”, “homage” or “authentic copy” is still a fake and a counterfeit. 

Not posting photos and asking that members PM you for pictures (because the headstock has a fake logo on it) doesn’t change the fact that it’s still a fake. 

Also, actually stating in your ad that it falls foul of the headstock logo rules is a bit of a giveaway that you are attempting to circumvent the rules. 

We have posted numerous times that we are serious about this. Posting fakes for sale puts this site at serious risk - which means everyone suffers due to an individuals selfish attempts to sell a guitar that is explicitly not allowed in the rules. 

Us modmins aren’t petty, vindictive, and pedantic about rules - we genuinely want you all to enjoy the free classifieds. 

(Tho putting people in the Trolls area is a lot of fun when it probably shouldn’t be....)
