jacksparrow is in the cooler for a week.

After a reasonably poor attempt to disguise a very obviously racist comment, he took to threatening fisticuffs with another member after being challenged on his abuse of rule 2.

Now we don’t like threats of violence or racism, so he’s going to spend a bit of time in the cooler to consider his actions.

For what it’s worth, he’s shown an escalating tendency to post in an aggressive manner which has at times been borderline unacceptable under our rules. On this occasion, he has overstepped the mark.

As his namesake said:
“If you were waiting for the opportune moment, that was it.”

Yes, it was.

Jacksparrow was due to be let out of the cooler. But he isn’t. 

Instead he’s been banned. As has the sock puppet he created “joebloggs” just to PM me to tell me that the coolering was unfair and basically I am Stalin. I assume that was a reference to cooler sounding like gulag.. 

Anyway, it appears his main gripe was that others in PE should have been banned rather than him and the original coolering was politically motivated. 

Bizarrely, he complained that he didn’t get a warning first - something that apparently the other forums he’s been banned from gave him first before being banned. Which says everything really.

The “Sexually objectify a Politician” thread has been removed. To quote a few people: “It's not helpful, there's no valuable content in it, and frankly it's pretty idiotic” and “It’s only going to go downhill”. So to avoid wasting any more moderators’ time it’s gone.

When you're sneakily breaking the rules, probably best not to post stuff suggesting abusing dogs when at least half the modmins team are dog people.

Sassafras’ comments about depression, and others’ responses, have been split out from the Snake Oil FX thread, and placed in BCD. It’s not big or clever to make fun of illness. It’s disruptive to have these diversions in the middle of an otherwise serious thread. Often we leave them, and they blow over. On this occasion it’s been tidied up.

Was tempted to respond to @Funkfingers' test of moderation even-handedness by testing his resilience to low-temperature accommodation.

In the end, I just deleted the thread. We are, after all, quite fair.
