Man-bag required.

What's Hot

So......wallet in my trousers pocket, but then I have a phone, loose change, and a case for my specs or sunglasses, and keys.

Not wearing a jacket in the summer, I have come to the conclusion that it's going to be a problem, and have therefore decided I need a man-bag. And I'm thinking the messenger style with a shoulder strap would do the trick. This year our holiday incorporates a week in Key West, which might be interesting with me carrying one, but I guess I shall have to grin and bear it.

Anyone use one? What d'you reckon, leather or fabric? Black or brown?

    No.
This week's procrastination forum might be moved to sometime next week.

Eastpak are tough and cheap, decent number of pockets.

Cocoon and Crumpler are nicer but a lot more money.

And anyone who judges someone for having a bag to carry their stuff is a twit.

I'm addicted to messenger bags but I do ride a pushbike all the time, so I can fondly imagine I'm still... manly  :(

Get a proper tuff cordura bike bag not a poncy leather thing. For a small bag, I quite like these.

£££ - Tumi 'Alpha Bravo' range
££  - Crumpler  (I can sell you a surplus to requirements Crumpler Beancounter if you like?)
£  - Just a regular canvas messenger bag that won't attract too much attention
    Red ones are better.

I had a Beancounter. A fine bag, but the 17 is too big to easily go through the gates on the Underground.

One of these look significantly masculine enough in the absence of red hair and a transit.

I shouldn't judge on appearance but to me nothing says cunt like a man bag.

Have you noticed the youth of today that walk around in scruffy tracksuits and sporting these little satchel/man bag things?

I have one of these that I've been using for about 2 years - admittedly I carry a laptop and/or tablet with me pretty much everywhere. It's really durable and has tonnes of space.  Looks slightly less camp than a messenger bag.

Man Bag....Schman Bag. Get some shorts with a decent amount of pockets if you are on about Day wear, in Key West I'd think I would be sweating bullets in Trousers and Jacket even at night.

    or similar(and a decent Belt).

I carry around all that stuff you mentioned on hols, minus the Specs Cases, do you really need to take your Specs Cases out with you? I'm not taking the piss, just don't see the point.

I must confess I'm heartened to see that the majority of you here have bought a season ticket on the equality bus, because no-one yet called me a big fat poof for wanting a man-bag, although several of you have called me a cunt, which kind of negates it.

You think I'm a cunt for having more stuff for work than I can carry in my hands and my pockets?

Man bags are just a no for me personally, I find it an effeminate look. There is nothing at all wrong with that other than the fact it is not for me. Having said that I'm not a macho type at all.

If I need to carry stuff I use a small rucksack. I'm also a fan of the pocket loaded shorts route mentioned above.

No I just think you are a cunt!
    ;)

For me I think it was the whole phenomenon/them being a fashion accessory that made them (in my opinion of course) unnaceptable.

There are other options to use for carrying stuff, holdall, briefcase, ruck sack, 5p carrier bag etc.
