    British Isles?

Temple Bar is very good to see how expensive beer can get, and people will still pay for it.

yes it's expensive.. but it's still a fun place..

once I went into a bar there for a beer on my own and a Trad Irish band was playing..
when I ordered a beer, the fella next to me heard my accent noting that I wasn't Irish and we got chatting..
he asked me what I thought of Irish music.. I said [truthfully] that I love it.. it's fun sounding
he told me that he played the fiddle.. and I replied that I'm a guitarist..
one thing led to another and I ended up playing with the band all night [on an upside down guitar.. lol]
from that point on, the beer was free..
what an awesome night that was… so much fun..
at the end of the night, the fella I got chatting to came up to me smiling and shaking my hand and said
you're not a bad paddy fer an English foker ya

    Football.

     Proper football.

None of this champions league, poncy premier league, euro 2016, overpaid, highly strung, rich kid, corporate entertainment bollocks. I'm talking about lower league football with proper old fashioned grounds that have character.
Where you can get so close to the pitch that you can smell the embrocation oil. Where you can have a couple of pints in a supporters club bar with history on the walls, instead of a grey concrete concourse. Where the players will still stop outside a pub for a chat after the game, and pose for photos with your kids. Where the club values it's supporters so highly that junior fans can train with first team players as a Christmas present.

Proper football is bloody British and bloody brilliant.

I'd echo that. I was with a French bloke I know last summer in London, not sure of the way to find the lunch venue. I suggested we ask a policeman and my friend looked at me like I was mad. As it happened, the copper was no help, but he was very friendly.
