  • I use vinegar and coffee, that seems to do the trick.
So does the vinegar not damage the plants in any way? and do you just spread it where they have been toilet, or all down the borders?

Since vinegar can be used as a weed killer, sometimes with other stuff, I'd be wary about using it near plants.

    I could be wrong though.

My neighbour's cat is harassed every morning by a Blackbird that dive bombs him then chases him around making the ack ack alarm call. However, apart from a Bonsai Blackbird I see no effective way of keeping cats out of your garden.

Cat traps..  Like big mousetraps that you put up on the top of fences and use catnip as bait. Kills the buggers instantly.
It's great seeing all the missing-cat posters that get pasted around the neighbourhood.

I hate the way cats crap all over people's gardens, kill songbirds and people still think they are cute.

Never had a problem with cats since Dot has been around.

She doesn't kill them but they must know she is around (scent?) so they crap in other people's gardens instead.

  • This should do the trick.  Remember to 'make safe' before approaching the 'beating zone'.

  • This one is a bit of a project; however, very effective though may cause radiation poisoning to tabbys.

  • Please bare in mind that it would be somewhat problematic to remove cats from the ecosystem. i.e. Mother Earth would not be to happy with a feline holocaust.

Tried the lion poop stuff - works for a bit. Mate told me that human piss does the trick but you do get some odd looks from neighbors as you take a slash on your own garden

    They are important predators.
I'd always assumed they were brought here by the Romans, so ecologically we had no use for them before that, which makes them a bit like the grey squirrel or the mink.

Curry plant (Helichrysum italicum) is supposed to be a very good deterrent. I know of a few people who say it works.

I'm interested in this as well.  I've tried locking the cat flap but they just don't get the message :-S
