It looks like you can control and program your amp via an iPhone app. Imagine that live - the audience could tweak your tone for you ... :-)

Hmmm. Not 100% sure what I think of this.. could be cool. Could be gimmicky. None of those FX names in the screenshots look new though, so I think we're dealing with 10+ year old effect algo's here. Blergh.

I never had much 'luck' with Line6 products.  Way too complicated.  The standard sounds have way too many tonal enhancements such as reverb etc.  A Line6 amp that did ONE sound 'right' would be something to shout about.  Oddly I found their guitars to be in the not bad category if a bit generic feel wise.

FX-wise the HD stuff is no different to the M-Series stuff. Maybe not 10 years, but they're definitely long in the tooth now.

  • So it's PODHD in new FRFR combos with woofers and tweeter speakers. Boring.

Surely that's a terrible joke and the big reveal is going to be better?  :|

    I dunno I think it's a pretty good idea.

If you are going to try and model different amps then you are better off having high fidelity speakers.

So a big Yamaha THR with iOS control? I'd be keen if it were cheaper.

I'm gonna say: moderately cool. Not extremely cool but somewhat so.

I'm assuming that if they're putting their weight behind this that the speakers are going to be pretty good. Meaning you've got an amp which sounds kinda like a 2x12, 4x12 whatever depending on what your patch is.

The sub 400 price point I like, because thats the point at which line 6 stuff is useful. At anything more and its competing with Axefz or real tube amps or whatever.

If its light, then its a pretty good all in one low end gigging solution. This thing on stage providing stage volume, speaker sim direct to PA, full stereo effects.

Actually let me reassess - this thing can suck my dick. The iOS control app is already available on the app store and it looks like this uses the pod xt modelling.

No - it uses the existing Spider IV modelling which is POD X3 compatible. I think it's a replacement for the Spider Jam. It looks like a pile of junk.

Yeah, they say in the Andertons video that it's X3-based. I pretty much stopped watching at that point. They're clearly aiming at the Yamaha THR amps, and I can't see them getting very far.

Also...no MIDI. Seriously? USB and iJunk, but no Android or MIDI? Le. Sigh.
