    Agreed. The first series was just SO good because it was a labour of love, written (as I understand it) on the train for Cardiff on the way to Dr Who filming. There was given time to polish it and hone the writing and there were no expectations because it was new.

    OK. I thought it was the other way round. With the first series there was not much time (Doctor Who was the cash cow) and an average budget as the BBC were unsure it would take off, so they played it safe and stuck to the original stories. The last series they had time and money and look what happened ...

    Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!
