Snore Patrol. But it's saved by Martha Wainwright.

Since they do appear to be quite widely hated I would expect it would also go some way to explaining why it's not just my opinion .

There are many bands I don’t like from The Beatles to Oasis but I just don’t buy their records. Simples! I don’t go out of my way to actively hate them, which seems to be the response commonly evoked by Nickelback. For whatever reason they seem to be a band that people love to hate.
I’m not trying to defend their honour or anything, I couldn’t care one way or the other, I just don’t understand why one band can illicit so much active derision en mass.
It’s a very real phenomenon in which social science studies have been conducted and might explain, at least in part, why Nickelback seem to garner so much hatred?

Although to be absolutely clear, they're not some kind of 'guilty secret' for me (I don't have such things in music, I'm quite happy to admit to the crap I like!) - I intensely detest them to the point I cannot listen to them without feeling irrationally angry that such appalling music exists. If there's any means of turning off the source, I will. If there isn't I will try to do something to distract myself.
I also strongly dislike Oasis and Radiohead largely because I find the vocals grating and the guitar playing annoying, but I can just about listen to them and I don't think they're genuinely bad in the same way - I'll admit to liking a few Radiohead songs and even one Oasis one, as above.
For what it's worth I detest the Lighthouse Family almost as much as Nickelback . And I know I'm not alone in that either...

Foo Fighters are interesting. Like you I’d throw them in the same bucket as Nickelback but everyone loves them.

Bold mention of Foo Fighters, a very popular band, almost the opposite of Nickelback in terms of general-public rock-band acceptance... But I've grown to dislike FF over the years as they seem to keep re-writing the same two or three songs over and over and over again. The first couple of albums were much more interesting.
That said, I wouldn't have characterised those particular bands as having "tricky bowel movement" vocals. But perhaps understandable if you're in a Perry Como frame of mind....
(What did Della wear, by the way?)

For what it's worth, I like their All the right reasons album.

Genesis I know What I Like (I think because of the Lawnmower bit) (cover)
Edit, thanks to @mart
I'm struggling with Springsteen, I really don't understand his popularity, Born to Run is ok
Hounds of Love - Futureheads
How Soon is Now - The Smiths
All Night Long - Lionel Richie
Once In a Lifetime - Talking Heads
Ocean - John Butler
Pets - Porno for Pyros
No Rain - Blind Melon
I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin
But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

But I don’t get the popularity of AC/DC at all, let alone Nickelback, so we’re all different...
