It's all pretty cheesy. Currently somebody is singing one of the most tedious songs of all time, i.e. "Imagine". I missed the bit before the boats, I might go back and have a look later if it's on iPlayer.

I loved the flaming piano, on a floating rock, playing the now traditional Olympic rendition of Imagine. Live as one, surely the overarching message of the Olympics? Non?

And then the last group get to carry it for about 5 seconds each. Weird.

That last bit was good though. Cool seeing that small group of people crossing those big empty spaces in the rain and darkness, then lighting the flame-balloon.

Poor piano. Yes Céline. She has health issues that mean she doesn’t normally sing or perform anymore so amazing really.

Overall I'll give them a solid 7/10 The Eiffel Tower light show brought them back in the game. It was bold to try something different with the opening ceremony and the use of the River was experimental - but it slowed the overall pace and just didn't work. I hope that no one else tries it again.
