I think they're meant to be backing an opera(ish) singer, but I may have that wrong.

They weren't mentioned by name, and I've no idea what Gojira look like, but yeah the metal guys were backing a famous French opera singer doing a metal version of one the songs of La Revolution.

Err, they were mentioned by name, and several minutes of performance counts as fairly prominent to me.

Love it - wasn't expecting to see them (didn't know in advance they were performing) but it was unmistakably them, I recognised them almost immediately.

Yeah, Gorija… I didn’t know they’d be there but I too  knew instantly it was them… playing on the side of a castle with opera singers  in the Olympics ceremony …that was awesome

Anyone else finding this opening ceremony a bit dull? I can't help but think back to London 2012 and how good that one was.

Yup, it’s a complete mess. Jumps around all over the shop, so we’re missing big chunks of what’s going on. Can’t see half of the teams on the boats cos they’re hidden behind banners, plus some of them are facing the wrong way . Doesn’t help that it’s pissing down either.

Watching a few minutes of it. The rain, the raindrops on camera lenses, the WTF people dancing on a bridge. Obviously I’ve missed a whole chunk but it’s a bit underwhelming. 

I was watching the Richard Osman podcast thingy earlier and apparently  if you watch everything in this year’s Olympics it will take 3,800 hours.

Just watched 5 mins of the opening ceremony, I’m not impressed. I don’t think the rain can be blamed for ruining it either.
