I was able to make a miniboard on a Nano with the spares
I won’t keep both the JR and Page for dirt, but still trying out different combinations of guitars and pedals at the mo
I also need to get better at using the talkbox. It’s bloody kanckering when you’re playing and singing BVs AND singing the talkbox stuff.
Ultimately sound aside I'm wanting to go for more physical knbs rather than menu's, part of the ever swinging pendulum.
I bloody love a whammy. That said, the ricochet got on my tits a bit. A nearly pedal. Could never find a rise and fall setting that felt close to using a treadle. V for me always now.
I 100% agree the Whammy is awesome overall, just not necessarily 100% the right tool for this job; it's the most obvious tool I have available, but the HX might just be better.
We'll see!

This is sitting on a Pedaltrain-2. It's my only pedalboard, into the front of a clean pedal platform. Sometimes I get to play into my own Rivera Chubster 40, sometimes I'm told to use the supplied backline (always been a Fender Twin or HotRod, so far, which is fine) and sometimes I go direct (and that's into a clean amp setting on a Simplifier MkII these days).
Signal path is guitar --> Bright Onion patchbox --> ES-5 input, through the ES-5 and then ES-5 output --> Bright Onion patchbox --> amp input.
The ES-5 loops are fairly standard. Loop 2 is the Ridge, loop 3 is the RD Compact, loop 4 is the Mobius (in mono). The Core is where things get a little interesting. I'm using it purely for FX and not using the amps and cabs. I've got loop 1 set up to go into the Core input and returning from an SR send. Loop 5 is going into the Core using the same SR, (but the return, obv.) and returning from the Core output (in mono).
That gives me two "virtual" MFXs on the Core, plus an empty SR loop if I need to add something extra. So, on loop 5 I'm often running a reverb, delay or both (in parallel), plus EQ. I'm running my drive pedals at unity gain and using the dB boost on the EQ to raise the volume at the end of the chain, if needed. I've got a nice John McGeogh preset where the flanger is in loop 1, positioned in front of the overdrives, and the rest is in loop 5.
Underneath, I'm using a CIOKS DC7 for power, with a GigRig Distributor for the analogue pedals that don't need to be isolated. The Ridge, Mobius and Core are all controlled using MIDI, and there's a Kenton MIDI-5 underneath as well so I don't have any MIDI daisychaining going on.
When performing, I'm generally singing and playing, so changing presets using the ES-5 buttons is prone to error, and I certainly couldn't tapdance to get things done. I can't move my mouth away from the mic to look down. So, after seeing Johnny Marr show it on a YT vid from a few years ago (when he was using a GT-100), I've got an FS-6 footswitch close by that I can hit far more predictably. I've also got all the buttons set to activate on release, not press, so I can find the button early, hold it until I need it and then let go in time with the music. The Mobius, Ridge and Core all load their presets seemingly instantly, which is nice. I'm not currently using any expression pedals in performance. But I intend to.
The FS-6 is using the CTL 1/2 input on the ES-5. One button selects the next preset and the other selects the previous one. I have one or two presets per song, in setlist order, so I'll start the song on the verse preset, select "next" for the chorus, select "prev" for the verse, etc. It means I don't "play" the pedalboard at all, just the FS-6. That means I can site the board away from the mic stand if there's a lack of space (and when isn't there?).
Nice. I really do need to get a GT-1000 Core.
