  • Cab Lab 3 is out. Anyone tried it yet? If you own 2 you should have been mailed a discount code for upgrading.

This is just what I've been waiting for - AX8 looks really interesting. I don't think it will hurt sales of the II, just open the product line up to more people, and could be a stepping stone to tempt you into a II or III when it happens.

If it's priced as aggressively as suggested I recon I'll give one a go, and try out for a while and compare to my main amp and test out at gigs etc. Then if it turns out it is not for me I'm sure the resale will be pretty good. I couldn't afford to do that with a II.

If the AX8 is under the grand mark and a simplified version, then I would be interested in giving one a go, not to replace my good on' anolog set up, just for extra fun. Only worry is that it will make me get overexcited about FW updates!!!

Don't worry about the over-excitement. You'll get over it pretty fast.

  • I don't even use it much anymore. I do almost everything from the front panel, I actually find it faster having the 4 quick control knobs. Axe edit is useful for re-ordering patches or copy pasting blocks across stuff though. I want to grab cab lab 3 soon though.

I prefer Axe-Edit cos you can see so much more information at the same time

  • I try to not have the computer on while I'm practising or trying to write songs as otherwise I get distracted. Yeah true you can see a lot at once on Axe Edit but my patches are probably not even half as complicated as yours are so the front panel works fine.

I take it you guys saw that Petrucci sent Cliff his personal Mark 2 to model? Will be cool to try it.

Yeah the computer is a distraction for me too. If it's on I'll end up recording and mixing instead of practicing.

But... I need axeedit to edit my patches. Find the axe screen too small.

  • 18.01 6160 is maybe a tad brighter, I think, probably negligable or I forgot what it sounded like while it was upgrading.  Rehearsal tonight...  Really been enjoying the beta 6160 block, hope I still like it as much in 18.01.

    Anyone noticed anything else?

All updated. There's a new Axe Edit too.

  • I think it feels a tiny bit brighter and a little more aggressive. Was in a different room to last time so can't be 100% sure, but I reckon the 6160 beta G3 was a little smoother. I can work with either, but I swear something changed.
