today is new shoes day. Finally decided that my old summer walking shoes were requiring of retirement (well, they are 10 years old now) as last walk out I could feel every stone on Dartmoor through the soles, so I treated myself to these:

 

merrel moab ventilator. Weather permitting, shall give Dartmoor a bit of a bashing in these on the morrow.

I like Merrell.

Never had a bad pair.  Last for years.  Wonderfully comfortable.

never had a pair of merrels but they look and feel alright. Last pair were TNF, that got slated by the gear junky at Trail, but I liked mine. They're gonna go into honourable retirement as pub shoes.

I have a pair of Merrel approach shoes I wear as everyday shoes. 

Probably the comfiest pair of shoes I've ever owned.

I met a fella today in the course of my work who's 81 years old and turns out was a jazz musician in his day.  As I worked we were chatting and throwing gig and music stories back and forth and it was great... basically musicians and punters haven't changed much... wonderful banter about sex, drugs, rock n roll, jazz, bloody drummers, annoying punters, and nicking thousands of cigarettes from a US air base (that was his).

As I left he was asking how the gigs were lined up, I say we're busy (touchwood), and he says, "That's it, keep playing baby!"
