  • Given that they used to display albums in alphabetical order by surname, I always hoped that if I recorded an album under the pseudonym Les Beat, I'd get accidentlly lumped in with Beatles albums and might at least sell a few copies.

Any list I could post relating to myself would be short and underwhelming...

However, looking at my current bandmate's CVs the vocalist, drummer, and bassist can offer:

    Ned Kelly's Bolt-On Goodies,
    Amput8[1]
    Twice Removed[1]

with the bassist additionally having some kind of connection with Dogs D'Amour!

     and, for our other guitarist:

    The Kronstadt Uprising[2]
    Nuclear Anarchy[2]
    Sonic Violence[2]

...which I think makes up for my own shortcomings in this regard. :-)

[1] Both of these featured a lead guitarist and songwriter who was, quite literally legless...

[2] Well known traditional folk performers. Not...
Don't ask me, I just play the damned thing...

How I now regret having not gigged after the age of 18 - two and a half decades ago - if only for the fun of coming up with some better names.

    Alas all I have is:

Us & Them - mixed teachers/students covers band assembled for one gig in the school arts festival (played in front of 600+, though so it gets in

Naughty Thoughts - the band I put together for the following year's arts festival - 4 gigs

TNT - lamest of names but we were actually OK.  Had a pro drummer who played with the Psycho Surgeons as his main gig but did our rock covers for a laugh

Hamster Overboard - more school shenanigans - mainly busking and impromptu busking gigs...

    *sighs*

Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder

    My trading feedback  - I'm a good egg  ;)

  • Here we go:

    Baby Seal Target Practice.
Winnie The Pooh's Fan Club - Did one gig where I received a prompt punch to the nose. Blood everywhere.
The Rubber Band - Not my choice of name.
Danger Of Deaf - Not my choice either.
    Machine Gun Monkey

    It's been a hard road. :(
So presumably 'Baby Seal Target Practice' and 'Machine Gun Monkey' were you idea?
    :))
Baby Seal Target Practice was culled from an article writtle by Rik Emmett, and yes, MGM was mine.

    • Crankshaft (my idea) - blues/rock & prog rock
    • B/euro/cratic WASTE (my idea, with the anarchist circle around the A in waste) - Crankshaft re-formed for a couple of gigs
    • Nightshade (someone else's idea) - medium weight folk-influenced prog rock
    • Strange Brew (band decision) - blues/rock much of which had been written or popularised by Eric Clapton. Great fun, and still my best gig
    • Timeshare (someone else's idea) - naff pop covers in social clubs
    • Top Notch Boogie Band/Midnight Hour/Universal Vibe - various names for the "function band" that I quit because they couldn't be Rsed to play any gigs. The first name was my suggestion, thrown out after 3 months in favour of the 2nd, which I went along with quite happily. It got replaced when we discovered another band using the same title in a similar part of the market. The last I couldn't really be bothered with, but I left soon after.

I was in a band called Strange Brew too. Blues/Rock too

  • @ellangus AFAIK there have been many bands called Strange Brew :)

I once depped on bass for Wayne Twining at a Magic Mushroom Band gig. That was fun. :)
