Anyone had a guitar over 10 years and it's still 'the one'?

  • I’ve had my Feline for 12 years and my LP Studio since 95.
    Can’t see them going anywhere.
Can’t have just one that I bond with though. I need 6 at least

Had my Tele for nearly fifteen years now. It's my joint number 1, alongside my six year old Strat.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

    I’ve had 4 that long:

Gibson CS-336, 15 years this month
Paisley Tele, 18 years next month
SG Standard, actually not quite but I think I’ll be 9 years in February 2021

And my Strat, my first guitar - much modded but still that original green Strat as far as I’m concerned. It’ll be 20 years this Xmas.

I intend to never sell any of them

I’m not sure there’s a one. I’m mainly into single coils, hence my longest serving guitar is a Harley Benton 335 with good pickups and tuners. It meets all my humbucker and semi hollow needs in one.

With the single coils I’m always trying to go better.

I've had my Martin D12-35 since 1989. Not my "no.1", but it's the best 12-string I've played and it's been used on every serious recording project I've ever done.

My '84 Aria RS Standard would count if it was the original one... which I had in 1985. Unfortunately the current one is a replacement that I finally tracked down in 2012, so doesn't quite make 10 years. But I will definitely have it in another 10, and any 10 after that while I'm still here.

Yup.. All four of my main guitars are a decade old or older (2002 LP Classic being the oldest).. My acoustic I have had for more like twenty five years. Oh and my little Pignose travel guitar which is also over 20 years old now.

The Classic is the one that was my dream guitar. A dark burst with a slim neck..  The other two are from 2010.

  • It wasn't my no.1 til a few years ago but its my 1997/98 Squier Affinity. Got it when I was 13 years old and have kept it ever since. Would never sell it. Have modified and replaced everything and it now plays like a proper Strat, outplaying a Fender.

Yep. The Schecter Tele I bought from Chandler Guitars 38 years ago. Many others have come and gone in that time and although I now have very nice Gibson, Fender, Gretsch and Atkin guitars the Schecter is still 'the one'.

Yep, my Les Paul Standard 1999, owned from new. It's not always my number one and I've considered selling it before but luckily sense got the better of me. After a recent fettle it's now evens with another guitar, a Lion Supreme!

2000 Fender USA strat and my first guitar a 1999 squire (both bought new so 20 years). Squire was my first guitar and the Strat my dad bought me as he thought I was getting into it and he used his xmas bonus to get it for me. I'll never sell either mainly for the connection to my dad. I am guilty though of buying and selling guitars more regularly than i probably should but theirs something a bit addictive about having a new toy to play with.

'86 Am Std Strat - bought for £349 in 1997. It needs a refret, but has a double EE serial number and on the back has some of the mineral deposits that caused the finish to sink that led to Fender adding veneers to some of their guitars for a time. It's battered, but sounds and plays great. The fingerboard edges have rolled naturally, leaving it a really comfortable guitar to play.
