Steve Vai's "For The Love Of God" live... With an operatic twist! This lad has an incredible voice. The video deserves way more than 52 views.

  • Tim Burgess's listening party podcast then the albums he covers. I'm currently listening to Love Bites by Buzzcocks as he's covered it this week with Steve Diggle.

Royal Thunder's new(ish) album, Rebuilding the Mountain.

I absolutely love their first album and their two early EPs, but the two subsequent albums were kind of... dull.  And this, their fourth album (and first for six years), isn't much better I'm afraid.  They used to have big riffs but now most of the songs are just slow and moody, and even when they're not there's too much emphasis on the vocals and not enough guitar.

  • An instrumental version of Feliz Navidad, to make sure I cue the Year 3 choir in at the correct place for our Christmas concert this coming Wednesday.

  • Physical Graffiti by the Zepsters. It's big and sprawling but I'm enjoying it after leaving them alone for a couple of years.

  • Blimey Dave in likes new music shocker.

Far From Saints self titled debut. Band consists of Kelly Jones of the Phonics; Patty Lynn and Dwight Baker of The Wind and the Wave.

I'm liking it, folky rock country type sound reminds me a bit of some of KT Tunstalls stuff. It's very easy to listen to.

  • Some Dr Molly Miller (I'm not sure she uses the Dr but much). I don't know much about her really but she's a music academic, has done sessions (Black Eyed Peas for example) and her own music seems to tend to be jazzy covers. So often familiar material, there's a guitarist sensibility with crunchy tones and many pedals but with the understanding of jazz harmony (I think).
Here's a reworking of a hoary old standard, maybe not her finest hour but for old blokes with an ear for blues rock it's very accessible:
