On first listen I was slightly dismayed to hear there are some mellow tracks, on second listen I was already liking it more.  I think it's going to grow on me.  I wasn't that crazy about Black Harvest on the first few listens either, and now I love it to bits.

And it's (probably) good that they've broadened their sound.  Sometimes with the earlier stuff, although it's fantastic, I do think the songs are a bit samey... which of course may be part of the reason I like them so much.  Love one, love 'em all.

I heard her version of We Are The Champions on the radio the other day. I think there's a whole album of this stuff with various guest stars. It's, I don't know what it is but I didn't like it.

Yes, she's done an album called Rockstar, featuring various rock(ish) cover versions and some originals.  Just looked it up and it's 141 minutes long, with 30 tracks...!

I'd read a little about it on Blabbermouth and formed the impression that Rob Halford, John 5 and Nikki Sixx were heavily featured.  In fact they are on one song.  I'm not sure if Nikki brought along a backing track to mime to in the studio...

The version of Stairway To Heaven features Lizzo on flute.  Apparently.

  • Was shocked at how charitable the reviews were! Being a good egg goes a long way, I guess.

Not convinced Dolly is doing a huge amount of singing on some those tracks

I feel like I should have a clever or witty response but I find this project so confusing I am basically lost for words.

Not really sure what brought it on but last day of 3 days off work and no one else in the house and am currently listening to Cradle of Filth's most recent album.

Really enjoying it actually. I only swim shallowly in metal but do enjoy it from time to time.

Anyone can and should cover anything if they want to.

Audiences decide, but artists should do what they believe is right for them.

I'm mainly listening to my own demos, mixes, new ideas also edited rips of a few gigs I've recorded over the years including Bowie Killers REM Jason Isbell Crowded House Kathleen Edwards. I edit out all the the crap remaster them and make my own live albums.

@mo6020 I'm intrigued that you can like Green Lung and Americana!  I cannot stand Americana, I find it absolutely unbearable.  That's in no way a criticism of your musical tastes, I'm the one with the hangups... ;)
