I just checked, having not actually heard them before, and I think 10000 Maniacs qualify.
    Likewise, Cowboy Junkies.

    The Sisters Of Mercy. (Intentionally.)

  • Oasis.

Literally the last thing I'd want to hear anywhere let alone whilst crossing a desert.
I am no Oasis apologist, but in fairness to them, they were named after a Swindon leisure spot.  It's just lucky that they weren't named The Sex Offenders' (Badly Tattooed) Arms, or The Dog & Racist.

AC/DC. Well, not as far as we know.

Subhumans. Nice people. Intelligent as well.

The Beatles. I'm no entomologist, but......

Half Man Half Biscuit. Skinny bastards all, apart from Neil.

Here And Now. Unless they're hiding in the wardrobe. And I'm not checking 'till morning.

Rainbow sounds like a name for a chirpy pop band, although the name and imagery are so linked in my mind after all these years that it doesn't seem incongruous.

Status Quo - They sung in English, not Latin.

Fine Young Cannibals - Disappointing.  No rhythmic pounding of drums and bare feet thumping the dusty ground as they prepared their human sacrifice and dug the fire pit.

  • Dire Straits - Mark Knopfler’s worth about £100,000,000.

AC/DC. Well, not as far as we know.

I checked one track and there was no discernible DC component.

I agree, though they did start the shows with "Somewhere Over The Rainbow (Weigh a pie)".

Chaffinches of plodding safe rock would not have been a good career move
