Justin King has just resigned as head of Sainsbury's - he loses millions of pounds in bonus payments and cannot work for another major grocery chain for 12 months. So why leave? He's being tipped to replace Bernie ....

He's a nice guy - I met him when he was head of  Häagen-Dazs.

I know it's early days but reports from the Jerez test today suggest the Renault powered cars are struggling so far.

Clip of Kimi from yesterday to get an idea of engine sounds. Not bad considering nowhere near flat out and only one car.

This is what a car should sound like...

I like the new engines. The sport is about technology, not power. And the drive to be green is admirable and is already being passed down to production motors.

But they are racing cars so they should be racing I think F1 will lose a lot of fans this year not just because of the engines but the new rules as well don't help

Bernie has really lost the plot ... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/25955560 .. if he does this I won't watch F1.

Reliability issues seem to have hit Ferrari ... Alonso broken down in the middle of the track in Spain causing a red flag.

At least Ferrari are running. Renault have advised teams don't run beyond 250km on an engine at the moment...

Next we'll have double points for ALL races being suggested!

    Whitmarsh to Lotus apparently!

    Maldonardo, Renault and Him.

    Good luck chaps.

I’m so bored I might as well be listening to Pink Floyd

No-one deserves Whitmarsh. He should just call it a day.

    He'll be cheap to hire ... Lotus's no.1 criteria, I'd reckon.

The medics have begun the process of trying to bring Michael Schumacher out of a coma:

I'm taking that as an encouraging sign

  • with these cars and drive chains being completely new I'm not sure you can read anything into it at this stage.

McLaren and Merc seem to be well ahead of the game. Renault have admitted there's a problem with the engine and RB have problems with some of their gubbins. With little testing they'll be behind the game. Might make for an interesting season.

Sadly Ross Brawn has confirmed he will not be returning to F1. He is now officially retired.
