Until the new engines settle down I expect it will be a bit all over the place but once that happens the boffins in the usual suspect teams will start to find ways within the rules to squeeze every last drop of speed out of the new cars.  That's always been the case in the past and I don't see any reason why it won't happen again.

Martini looking likely as Williams' new sponsor. Apparently williamsmartiniracing.com has been registered by the same people as hold williamsf1.com. Combine that with Merc engines and they might be moving up the grid this year

Williams car spotted in Martini colours for filming. Doesn't look as good as some of the fan renders, but if it means they're getting decent money coming in I'm happy

With only 24 days until the first race, they can't be sandbagging - they haven't got the time to be pissing about.

They only got the car running after lunchtime, so they're still running the shakedown stuff that Mac and Merc did on day 1 in Jerez. The other Renault cars ran ok today, so it's looking like Newey's design is just too aero-y and not geared enough towards cooling. 

Caterham did a race distance with its HUGE sidepods; obviously hoping the first hlf of the season will be breakdown-heavy so they'll have a good chancce of points just by finishing. Not a bad strategy tbh given they're at the back and can't afford major aero development anyway.

It's looking like a year dominated by Merc engines. Ham vs Button for the title?
