Cracking job from McLaren. 

Understandable to go on the tyres based on the car they car before this weekend. They probably won’t do that again this season though! 

Regardless of tyres they were up there 100% on merit both yesterday and today. Phenomenal shift from the early part of the season

Wow!  If I had to pick one F1 race this year to watch live, in full…

It wouldn’t have been that one.  In fact, it wouldn’t have been any of them.

Great job by McLaren and Norris, but unfortunately once DRS was enabled the result was never really in doubt.

Fair point.  The context is that I haven’t really watched live full-length F1 races since 2019.  The one chance I get is the British GP every year.

In early 2020 (pre-pandemic), Mrs Cols was looking at the Sky subscription and remarked “Sky F1 is costing us £20 per month, is that ok?”.  It didn’t take a lot of thought to say “No, cut it”.

And I have to say, I really haven’t regretted that decision since.

The other chance I got for watching the full GP was visiting my father (who had not unsubscribed) at the time of the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP.  Nuff said….

That was a good race, I enjoyed that - just watched the whole thing on Ch4 catch-up rather than the highlights.

Lewis sounded sounded shattered on the radio at the end, and he looked like he was holding his ribs when he got out of the car & on the podium... anyone else notice that?

It still baffles me that this formula seems to be all about understanding the tires and managing them. Some teams get it right, some occassionally and some just can't seem to get grips on it (Ferrari...). When Hamilton timed his pitstop just right and got on the softs I thought he would breeze by Norris in a whim... but he didn't. Verstappen said after the race that the hard was the better race tire as you could push it more. 

Have to say I'm very impressed with Piastri this season. He's right up there with his teammate although not running the same upgrades (Norris was running a new front wing amongst other times) and... he is still a rookie!

I thought it was becoming a bore-fest until the SC, which shook everything up. Great job by the McLaren team, I’m thinking they had Max worried on the odd occasion, which was good to see. And Max is in danger of becoming an even bigger moaner than Hamster! Merc still has some work to do, but the pair of them did a great job with what they had.
