I’d have goldtop over a burst any day. In fact I had a 2001 standard for a couple of years. 

Bursts just scream boomer to me.

The goldtop just looks classy, the custom is a bit mean, and the other one is a copy of where Gibson went wrong

I find goldtops very attractive. But I don't actually own one. I think perhaps because I like seeing the wood more than single colours.

Suits a p90 les paul style guitar but never had any gas for that colour myself. Yellow LP special FTp90W.
On a humbucker les paul..Red burst, or wine red, black, white custom.  > GT.

I really like the orange sparkle '89 Gretsch, but it has a 12" radius, which I find just too flat.
It would be nice if Gretsch did a 9.5" radius and 6150's on that guitar, which is pretty much home base for me.

I like them when they're like this, ones that are too yellow/greeny tinted (usually seems to be on cheaper models) look a bit rubbish. Also weird that many people don't seem to like gold hardware but happy to have the whole top plastered with the same colour.

Some GT's do look naff, it needs to be done properly, my EPI 56 has a green tinge to it under the right light, its not gold or sparkly, its more of a beige , mustard with a hint of green.
