Not heard Snail Pace Slim's name in years. Used to be quite a fan boy 30 years ago. He must be getting on now. Last thing I heard was he'd hung up the guitar and was now a landscape gardener. Although must be retired by now.

Totally agree with this - why do people think they want complete strangers coming up and hassling them? Anyone posting a celebrity selfie is basically saying “I didn’t respect this person enough to not hassle them, my self worth is more important than theirs “

When I worked bar in Amsterdam in my 20's we had Ken Doherty, Mick Hucknall, The Levellers and a few other people in. Always just poured them a beer and left them too it.

I played a few balls with Ken in a hotel in Waterford once, he was very jolly.

Most people would leave Mick Hucknall alone.

At a launch party with a couple of non industry mates and Tony Hawk heads over to me says Hi and we chat for five minutes.
    Mates gobsmacked.
I'd actually met him only once before, the week previously at the ISPO trade show where we talked crap for a few hours over three days.

But how on earth did you recognise him?  ;)

I'd love to meet Tony, he always comes across like a really top guy.

My boss told me "dress for the job you want, not the job you have"... now I'm sat in a disciplinary meeting dressed as Batman.

Don’t think he ever did landscape gardening as a job, although he did get into gardening after folding the band and did a makeover on his own garden. He’s played a couple of gigs with other people since but doesn’t seem interested otherwise. What a waste of talent, but then I suppose 25 years of non stop touring will do that to you.

He’s brilliant  ,all the bones brigade & Santa Cruz crews were so amazing . I gave up what I laughingly call skating a few years ago as I nearly broke my finger & I love my guitar , I’m crap at skating but love it deeply ,even just cruising around is a magic feeling

I've shared a few beers with Bruce Dickinson.
It was a 2 day fencing competition with a meal the evening after day 1.

Where's @Reverend ? He said in a previous thread that he once beat Dave Murray at Scalextric and it's stuck with me ever since. Who'd have thought that the forum had had so many niche sporting interactions with Maiden. I'd love to say I used to be on a Kabbadi team with Nicko McBrain but that would be a lie.

yeah, Robert Plant was sitting out in the crowd at a festival I went to. My GF insisted on going to talk to him, I wanted to leave him alone, so left her to it.

Most recent and notable one for me was meeting Nuno and the rest of the band backstage at a VIP event after the Pornograffiti anniversary show a few years back. Great guys, really nice all of them, and hilariously humble - Gary was all, "What was the sound like? Did we do OK?", just like every band I've ever met while playing on the toilet circuit. It was like they genuinely had no idea it was the best-sounding show any of us had ever been to.

I can retell my how I went ten pin bowling next to Robert Plant story but yes everyone left him and his party alone. So, well that's it really...

I have very briefly met minor celebs although maybe not so much heroes. I've had a few online exchanges with Horace Panter but that's rather been trumped by our own James Oliver who's had Horace play bass in his band. Y'know that thing when someone on social media says your jealous and it's usually nonsense, well this time it's true

Saw Ronnie Wood at Ascot one year.  I was too embarrassed to ask him to autograph my racecard so Mrs O went up to him, obviously telling him who she was asking for and why.  She pointed at me, Ronnie waved.  Signed page is framed and on our  downstairs bog wall.  She said he was charming.
