There's lots of kinds of music that I'm not interested in. And yet I don't feel that they are not music, or no one should listen to them, or they have no worth, or that they show some fundamental problem with the people involved. Some opinions come across as much more problematic in a racial sense that being strictly about music.

I think the light house family are great, really under-rated. While they might not be the most edgy they do demonstrate some really sophisticated song writing and their use of harmony and melody is a masterclass in....nope sorry...i tried...cant do it with a straight face. They're shite!

My vote for who buys this is the entire genre "extratone". It's rather silly.

There's a lot of music I don't like, but I've got a good idea who buys it. I call them bell ends.

As do I like them, the Pet Shop Boys that is, not actively but they sit in the same box as ABBA for me. Just great pop songs one after the other.
It's the "actively" part I've never actually seen. As in "who buys..."

Obviously someone was buying the records though. Seemed like they were constantly in the charts.

I'd honestly rather go out with a guy called Jim.
Hi, I'm Jim. I'm free this Friday, where are you taking me?

Late 90s, about same time as The Lighthouse Family was Savage Garden, if you remember them. Similar non-descript pop rock

I was at Manchester Uni at the time, living in halls, I think Savage Gardens big song was out, a quite hot girl (Tanya) was in my room and saw some CDs and said can I borrow these.

The next day she was complaining  that Savage Garden was a bit dark, loud and aggressive when she listened to them, turns out she'd borrowed Soundgarden's Superunknown.
