In 2017, a British government-funded study spent six months and £1.5 million trying to find out why the head of a man's penis is normally greater in circumference than the shaft. Eventually it was discovered that it is to provide greater pleasure for the man during sex.

In 2019, not convinced that British science was of any real quality, the French spent almost a year and Є1.9 million replicating the study and discovered that, in fact, the head of a man's penis is normally greater in circumference than the shaft in order to provide women with greater pleasure during sex.

After a short delay because of the pandemic, in 2023 Australian scientists decided that neither the British nor the French were reliable and that a third, definitive study was necessary. It took three hours and cost $75 (mostly for a couple of slabs of beer) and finally determined that the real reason the head of a man's penis is greater in circumference than the shaft is to stop your hand flying off and hitting you in the forehead.
