Utterly terrible news. As @gilby says above, this puts everything else into perspective in an all to painful way. 

I can only send my heartfelt sympathy and follow your instructions - I've just given my 15-year-old daughter a big hug and told her how much she means to me and her mother.

I'm not religious at all but I'm sure James' spirit will live on within you, your family, his friends and his acquaintances.

Thinking of you all in this difficult time and thanks for having the courage to share this with us.

This is every parent's nightmare and I have nothing of value to add that hasn't already been said. Both me and my wife send out our deepest condolences to you. No parent should have to bury their child, I can't imagine what you must be going through.

However, as someone else said earlier, while you must be strong for your wife and family, it is extremely important that you yourself get to grieve properly, too.

Take care, and while the pain will never go, I hope it eases for you with time.
