    Does she shed/malt at all?

    How's your training gone mate?
She doesn't really shed - brushing does get fur out, but other than that it just comes off in clumps when she has a good scratch, not a constant drop like some breeds.

The training's been pretty good; we did a 10-week course which improved her a lot, but she's still very puppy. Over-excited by other dogs and people in particular, and very bouncy, but she's also fairly obedient. We only walk her on a lead or a long line though.

Dennis is doing a lot of lazing about in this heat (for a change). Here he is having a quick tidy (after he decided to launch himself into a load of sticky buds!)
Dennis is a handsome lad. There should be more OES. Quite a few bearded collies around here, and hence a lot of confusion, but they're not the same thing at all.

Sounds about right! Poppy can be a right shit. She is massively excited about people, even if she saw them 20 minutes ago - not so fussed about dogs now - she'll acknowledge them and play with them if they can chase her, but where she used to bolt across the field if she saw a dog, she won't bother now, she'll only wander over to them if they're close(ish) by and that's after stopping to suss them out first. And she'll come back if we tell her not to wander over if we don't think the other dog looks like they want to socialise or the owner warns us off. I think this is probably down to the fact she spends a lot of time socialising with other dogs when she goes to day care, so it's not such a sensory overload.

We've spent god knows how much on training, but I'm glad we did as it's really paid off, and being able to walk her off the lead (when we know we're nowhere near a road or other dangers!) is a god send to try and give her enough exercise!

Just waiting for her to come into season now, that should be fun. :-/

Thanks :-) they're  a brilliant breed I think. Dennis is our second. You're right though there aren't that many.

You know, being an English breed, I honestly thought there would be more of them around. Round these parts, you see more huskies and Akitas than OESs, which to me is...weird.

Sprocket gets recognised as an OES or a Dulux Dog (or, once, by a small child, as a polar bear) quite regularly. Fairly often people speculate as to why "you don't see many of them", to which my response is "because you didn't buy one".

I sometimes wonder if part of the lack of Old English Sheepdogs is down to them being a relatively recent Welsh breed of drover's dogs...
