Mate, we have a pet-filled household too and I know how it feels when one leaves and doesn't come back. You tried your best for her, you couldn't have done any more.

For fuck sake. I've just caught up with this thread. So, so sorry for your loss mate. I still vividly remember the day we had to put our family dog down and that nearly 20 years ago now and I still miss him. 

Became fond of my wife's family dog over the last 8 years too, and then we found out that he had to be put down last November whilst we were on our Honeymoon and it never gets any easier. My wife NEVER cries (heart of stone, I fucking SWEAR), but she lost it when she heard about her dog. 

My thoughts are with you and your family mate, she looks like an incredible dog.

ah this is so sad....

our rabbit died back in October.. he was an indoor one that had the run of the house..

it was so sad.. much more so than I expected..

I remember losing my dog [Boysie - a Staffordshire] a long time ago.. he was like my lil' bro.. I still miss him

Lord.. that's really terrible news. You get so attached to your dog because they're always your best friend, no matter what mood you're in. It's just truly awful when you lose one.

I feel for you. We lost our beagle 3 years ago. I was more upset than I was when both my father and step dad passed away.

Give it some time and you will start to notice other dogs all the time and you will pang for a new one. Time is a great healer, although I still miss old Lucie.

Just read all of this, how awful, I have 2 Chihuahua's and they are brilliant loving and happy dogs, My heart truly goes out too you, A massive loss, 

Really sorry to hear what you have been through, 

The one positive is that anyone reading this will hopefully think again about the importance of insurance and how its a priority to get sorted asap as you never know whats round the corner.
