Probably the first that springs to mind, probably due to it being basically the soundtrack to my early teenage years, would be:
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
Honourable mentions go to:
Foxy Lady - JHE (I've got "Wayne's World" to thank for that one!)
Thunder Road - Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band
Guns n roses - you could be mine.
For Those About To Rock... - AC/DC
Walkin' The Dog - Aerosmith
Speed King - Deep Purple
Running With The Devil - Van Halen
Damn... There are so many...
Instantly recognisable.
Best riff of all time.
Duh (duh duh duh).
Ps forgot a bit:

Don't @ me.
Bodies - Sex Pistols.
Eases you in to the onslaught that follows.
Good Times Bad Times - Led Zeppelin. Bonzo's drums turn the world on its head.
Oh Baby -Quo
Eye of the Beholder .........

Get Innocuous! - LCD Soundsystem
Porno - Arcade Fire
Time is Running Out - Muse

Interesting point that it is the first thing you hear and I agree - Apparently the 'trend' today is effectively no/little intro, due to streaming, as some 'collective data' shows you only have a short time to get the customers attention, otherwise they move on - So no Smoke on the Water, Stairway to Heaven or Hotel California on that basis
