I voted for the long term future of the British economy and a safe pair of hands dealing with Brexit.

These two factors will take care of things financially for the country. I am happy to pay thousands in taxes every month but would hate to see it frittered away by a Labour government which if elected would also cost my family thousands of extra pounds.

I voted Labour and also did 2 stints of knocking on doors. It almost got nasty with a ww2 veteran. He had a walking stick but looked like a proper hard bastard. Shouldn't have gone to a house which wasn't on the list, I suppose.
Some folks like water, some folks like wine.
    My feedback thread is here.

I voted Labour too. I had massive doubts and disdain for Corbyn a few months ago, but he and his manifesto have won me over. That and the idea of May and the Tories getting into power again after their recent shitshow is horrifying.

    Of course it is.
It is time off from working to do something unpaid.
Are you  conflating time off with downtime?
    Eh?

Each local authority employs people for each election. You apply to work in a polling station Or count votes. They are paid. In some constituencies, for a General Election, the person in charge of the polling station gets over £300 for the day.

Counting votes or running a polling station isn't unpaid.

Now, working for a party unpaid to observe the counting, that may be unpaid - but they are different things.
Ok, I didn't know it was paid work (thanks for informing of that- I'm from another country so didn't know) but my point still stands.
Taking time off a job to do a paid job somewhere else is still time off from your primary job.

    And me.

Wife and I got there at 6 and there was only one person in front of us in the queue. By the time we'd voted and were walking out the door the queue was about 25 deep.

Fixed that for you, people seem to have forgotten how bad labour politics has been prior to the election

Well after saying I'd never vote Labour after the Blair/Brown years,I've done exactly that.

Done with a clear conscience too.

    Who'd have thunk.

    http://www.economicshelp.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/unemployment-total-600x456.png

50 to 54 year olds would have finished Uni or reached their 20s  in 1984-88 - which had a higher rate of unemployment  than anyone younger will have experienced

Houses were cheap until the early 80s too, then they zoomed up

    check that graph for unemployment

    79 to 97 tory

    97 to 2010 labour

    check that graph for unemployment.

Tories have been in for 28 of the last 38 years

and there has been austerity, recession ,cuts in all the tory parliaments

    only the rich have benifitted

Why can't it be published ? Probably because it's not accurate!

Most of my customers I have spoken to today have voted for the Conservative Party. They understand the need for a strong and stable government.

Labour don't give a fuck about business and long term economic growth.
They just want to tax and waste and subsidise people's lifestyle choices.
