  • It’s cool sounding and quite a creative solution. Unfortunately I have absolutely no use for one. It did make me think of the original film blade runner for some reason ;)

Im not the target audience once again though

Some nice sounds, but is there anything here that couldn’t be achieved by the rabid fanboys that already have the Trifecta?

Isn't this going to be another pedal for those who play that worship/church music stuff? Not exactly rock 'n roll.
Have you heard any proggy metal in the last 10 years?
    I haven't. Nor do I think I ever will.

I wonder what would happen if @idiotwindow ever came across Neal Morse?

Prog and Christian together would probably finish him off.
I don't have a problem with either Prog (in small doses) or "Christian" (there are some wonderful pieces written by, amongst others, Bach, Elgar, Messiaen, Taverner).

I had never heard of Neil Morse but thought it only reasonable to go and have a listen. I found the following on Youtube. I don't hate it at all but it seems very derivative. It could easily be an album filler song by any number of rock bands from the 70s or 80s. I must admit to having a chuckle about 5 or so minutes into the song when the musicians rock out 'together'.

  • I will have no use for this arty farty nonsense, I no longer gaze at my shoes, am no longer looking for God and don't play 9 minute quiet/loud/quiet/loud metal songs while looking extremely serious and menacing with a beard, piercings and tattoos:

That demo just confirms my earlier prejudices. Perfect for the P&W market.

  • That "Dodging Meteors" sound is pretty cool. Sorta reminds me of the Rage Against The Machine whammy stuff.

I don't know if I really need this pedal, but if I've got some cash kicking around one day and don't know what to do with it, I may take a punt. Nice ambient headphones-at-night type vibes.

    Bye!

Do P&W gigs pay that well then over there?
Some of those gigs are small arenas and people do make a living out of it. Over a third of people regularly attend church in the USA, that's 100 million or so people listening to live music every week.
Is selling your soul to God better or worse than selling it to the devil?

Trust Andy to get some great sounds out of it. I was surprised from the start of this demo that you can seemingly get some “normal” plate-like reverb sounds from it, as well as a reverb that’s sounded a lot like Blackhole...

  • I bloody love reverb, and I don't mind a bit of wonky reverb, but loads of that audio examples video was just shimmer with some modulation on top, and some of them sounded awful.
Obviously Andy's sounded better but still super shimmer, I guess if I wanted the ultimate shimmer pedal then this would be it.

It’s a huge “meh” from me.  I’m not a big fan of shimmer at all, and I don’t see (other than the sequencer, which admittedly is cool) why you’d go for this over a BigSky.

It’s increased my GAS for a Meris Mercury 7, though..

I really like it, but just not convinced I need it. I don’t like shimmer, though the sequencer function, the modulation possibilities and the sheer size of reverbs you can get from it (as well as seemingly the ability to get “normal” plate-like reverb sounds) look brilliant. I just feel that, owning a Big Sky, I could get a lot of the traditionally “non-reverb” functions by adding a different pedal or two.

Pretty much the same tbh. I don't need it at all really.

If it was just a sequencer with added pitch-shifting/synth/filtering, etc... basically if Strymon has done their version of an Enzo, I’d be pre-ordering one now.

Lots there I wouldn’t use and I certainly wouldn’t move on my Big Sky for it.

    The sequencer looks quite cool.

I really wish someone like strymon would release a modern version of the Adrenalinn beat sequenced stuff.

That could be incredible with midi clock between pedals and a better interface (a screen and easy to read presets) than the original adrenalinn. I’d buy that in a heartbeat.

Bets on cost? £550 I think...
    £449 I reckon

Same price difference between timeline / big sky as Volante / bluefin

Close! £439. May as well get a HX Stomp.

I doubt it’ll find space within my Western Swing inspired project... and it doesn’t sound much like my Dumble powered authentic blues project would get much use... I doubt the AC/DC tribute band would need it either...

    Jeez....

Anything where you play a chord or note then have to pause to make sure you hear the £400 twinkly reverb tail that took 25 minutes to dial in just silly.

Utterly depends what you're using it for: if the style of music you play doesn't suit the pedal then obviously it's silly (not much use for this in an ACDC tribute band), but if you play ambient, post-rock style music then this pedal suits it. You might not like that style of music, but if that's the case, why give a massive shit about this pedal anyway? Also, you might pause to hear the reverb tail if you are creating a film soundtrack for something and want to create the right reverberations for a specific scene because in that scenario the detail matters. Down the Dog & Duck, not so much, but this pedal wasn't made for the Dog & Duck.

The trick is to find the right places for the pauses ;)
