  • Anything where you play a chord or note then have to pause to make sure you hear the £400 twinkly reverb tail that took 25 minutes to dial in just silly.
The trick is to find the right places for the pauses ;)
For me, it would be as the audience is leaving (midway through the first song)....

It's impressive they were there in the first place!

    Bye!

  • I’d like to hear what someone might do with this used as an external effect in a DAW creating cinematic soundtrack/ambient stuff. I imagine it’s pretty inspiring to get hands on in that kind of setting.

Exactly! Especially as I'm not gigging at the moment... probably best to call the police...

  • I've just heard the demo off the creator chap....he is clearly SO excited about the product hahahahaahahahah!

Half way through - 'do you want a reverb that sounds like Star Trek Next Gen when they beam a person?'

    Me - 'Not re...'

Them - 'Too late...here we gooooo!'

I’d like to see Stefan from ThePedalZone have a crack at this on his channel. His reviews are among the best out there at the moment. This is way beyond my means and capabilities though really.

  • Looks like I'm in the minority but I'm interested. I ruled myself out of the running when I saw all the granular shit in the buildup, but in reality it's a pretty straight forward reverb with customisable trails, which I could find use for.

What sells it to me is that it has to deliver a stable and linear reverb trail to enable it to do this, this is what I'm after, with the ability to add modulation and have hi/lo filters etc. I'm now quite torn between this and the Blackhole because ultimately, a dedicated space style reverb has been top of my list for a long time.

Only disappointment is that unlike the BigSky, it can't run two simultaneous intervals on the shimmer, which was the only thing I liked about the BigSky. That said, I'm still intrigued to try one and A/B against the Blackhole.

  • That "Dodging Meteors" sound is pretty cool. Sorta reminds me of the Rage Against The Machine whammy stuff.

I don't know if I really need this pedal, but if I've got some cash kicking around one day and don't know what to do with it, I may take a punt. Nice ambient headphones-at-night type vibes.
I really like it, but just not convinced I need it.
Pretty much the same tbh. I don't need it at all really.
I bet you, though, that the more demos I see and the more I think about it, the more I'll want one anyway  :)

I love my Big Sky, but now that I know, as an option, that you can dial in a "normal" plate-style reverb (as well as all the otherwordly loveliness), I think I'm starting to want one. I would never use the high shimmer, though.

  • The shimmer sounds, to me, average at best.

  • Wow, there are a lot of old boring men on here.
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

What shimmer have you heard that's better? For me, Strymon have made the best shimmer algorithms in existence.

I wonder how many people here who are saying they will not buy one will end up having it at least once?

I usually can't tell much from reviews- I didn't think Volante would be for me until I had one here.
I'll audition Nightsky and see what I think but it sounds pretty interesting.

I knew Volante was for me the moment I heard it. I was literally on the hunt for an amazing tape or analog delay that could do the oscillation tones I do with my Helix - which weirdly enough is an Adriatic Delay into EQ+Comp+Hall Verb - and the Volante smashes it out of the park.

This .... I'm not quite hearing anything that 100% floats my boat yet. Will probably wait for user videos. If it's not for me, that's fine. Plenty of pedals out there for everyone!

    Bye!
