I always thought the bible, especially the OT, had a lot of potential. Get a decent writer in there, tighten it all up a bit, modernise the language and you're onto a winner I reckon. You've got sex, incest, infanticide, mass murder, multiple apocalypses and zombies, what's not to like.
I sort of agree - I loved the old epic movies. Cecil B Demille stuff with casts of thousands. Brilliantly made films.

I’m so bored I might as well be listening to Pink Floyd

Rewatched Sexy Beast and would recommend it just to see Ben Kingsley playing Don Logan - in what is maybe one of the greatest portrayals of an absolute nutter.
    Ain't that the truth. masterpiece

Just watched American Sniper, about the life of Chris Kyle, not bad

Just got home from Ex Machina. What a brilliant, fucked up movie. 5 thumbs up.
    Saturn Ascending looks good too.

  • Kingsman: The Secret Service. By the same team behind Kick Ass, but it doesn't have quite the same sense of fun about it - it's a little forced.

Winters Bone. A DVD that we found in the cupboard that we bought as part of a three-for-a-tenner deal and promptly forgot about. Has Jennifer Lawrence in, the girl from Hunger Games. About a teenage girl trying to find her wastrel dad, otherwise the family get evicted. Very slow burning but rather good.

Watched Nightcrawler which was excellent, cannot believe that it didn;t get any Oscar nominations.

Also watched They came together which is a piss take on Rom Coms, very silly and almost utter rubbish, but we loved it.

FInally got around to watching The Interview.

Had DPRK not lost their shit about it, it undoubtedly would have sunk without a trace as it is a quite a silly and inconsequential film.

I am fairly susceptible to low brow humour so I quite enjoyed it.

Sexy Beast, recorded from C4 yesterday, on the strength of all the previous positive comments. Ben Kingsley is immense in it, but I didn't quite get why all the Ian McShane worshipping was going on. Not a bad film by any means but I expected something, I dunno...... better.

i watched FURY but i think there was a spelling mistake with the first and last letters, it should have been called TURD

very disappointed as the directors previous film 'end of watch' was so good.
i found myself rooting for the germans, the faceless zombie hordes of incompetent germans, just wanting them to wipeout the smug, smartarse yanks.
in every fucking film americans have this smartarse persona - YAWN

    also watched LUCY, dont bother

Rocky 4. never seen it before. Erm, hopefully will never see it again.

Terminator 4 (lotta 4's last night) seen it before several times so I have only myself to blame.

I am a bit stunned that I didn't like Whiplash because I had been looking forward to it.

It is well made. One of the acting  performances is top notch. I like Jazz.
But it was almost painful to watch. That can still work for me sometimes but not this time.

    Taken 3.

    Better than Taken 2.

Then again nothing could be worse.

8 hours of plane-time at the weekend, so I watched:

    Big Hero 6
John Lasseter is still a bastard that makes grown adults cry. Simple story, and not Pixar-quality, but a good film that's happy and sad and heartwarming and stuff.

    Nightcrawler
Jake Gyllenhall gives good crazy. Need to watch again without airline editing, but very good.

    Silver Linings Playbook
Having heard "Rom Com" I avoided this for years, but it's brilliant. Also, Jennifer Lawrence :)

    Seems I'm missing out!

  • I watched TED on Saturday. I wasn't expecting much to be honest but there were genuinely laugh out loud moments early on. But I got bored of it by halfway through even with Flash Gordon coming to its rescue.
