I always though that when we see Luke's reaction to getting his old light sabre back in Part VIII, he should have angily asked where the hand was.

I could never understand how they could build him a perfect life like fake hand, but not reattach the hand that was cut off.  As you say, he was given the light sabre back, so they must have found his hand as well when they found his light sabre.

Just a thought...Alec Guinness was 63 in the original film. Luke/Leia are about 10 in this series, which means Ewan McGregor is almost exactly the right age now at 51.

I watched a new hope with my son (5yo) a couple of weeks ago and he wasn't that in to it. Decided to try something more recent and since he had started playing lego SW the force awakens we choose that movie. He liked that much more. Partly, I'm sure, because he recognised parts from the game, and he likes bb8, but maybe it's just a better movie?
I think I might have enjoyed it more too.

Although...there is actually canon to explain it. The clones had that kind of accuracy, but when they ran out of clones and started drafting people into the infantry they just grabbed anyone they could, and quality dropped.

As retcons go, it's actually one of the more believable ones.

Thinking about this...I'm not even sure it's a retcon. Han Solo was a stormtrooper in his original backstory, wasn't he?

3 was better than 2 I think.

I'm enjoying it overall. None of the new stuff will ever feel like the first time I saw SW at the cinema as a kid but so far this is better than a lot of the other stuff.

Some spoilers stuff about Ep3 of Obi Wan:

I thought they'd keep a lightsaber fight between those 2 for a finale! 

I did find the inconsistent use of force powers intrusive - he can pick people up and chuck them around, then says "bring him to me" and can't do anything about a robot on the other side of a bit of fire carrying someone away... ? 

Yes yes none of it is real, but it's intrusively inconsistent

You're right, funnily enough he hated the role, the franchise, and especially the fans, despite it making him an absolute fortune, being his meal ticket for life, rejouvinating his career, and keeping his name in the press.
