If a rival team thinks it's silly then it's silly. Mind you Lauda isn't particularly conventional

He makes some good points - you have fans all over the world watching - they see an exciting overtake and yet it's disallowed and a penalty is added, yet throughout the race drivers were doing similar things. It was an excellent race with plenty of action and Max was easily driver of the day .. they should have cut him some slack. Lewis and Max were in a different league from the rest yesterday.

Worse than Max's race penalty are those effing stupid grid penalties dished out for technical issues. They really need to stop that nonsense with immediate effect. Even Coulthard was on about starting a Twitter campaign against it.

Brawn's already said it's top of his list to fix.

In fairness, the stewards couldn't let Verstappens pass stick; all 4 wheels off the track is breaking the rules, aka cheating.

It would also have been penalising Raikonnen's defensive driving, within the rules and conserving fuel, to keep the place.

Allowing the pass to stand for a podium position would have simply been saying forget the rules.

However, if I were Red Bull, I'd be raising a protest against every other car which had all four wheels of track, if only to try and negate the penalty.

The grid penalties for engine changes are ridiculous and universally despised it seems. The only positive is it does sometimes give us a mixed up grid... I’m not sure yesterday’s race would have been quite as enjoyable had it not had Max carving his way through the field.

Why not? No one is in favour of them, the FIA (an organisation with questionable integrity), needs to dump them. It has the power to do so, so where’s the log jam?

I would imagine coming up with an alternative way to penalise technical failings would be part of it at least. Otherwise, it would be back to the days of unlimited supplies of engines and all the rest.

    Gasly & Hartley for Mexico.

With Kvyat getting demoted again we can expect another Max win, right?

No, they just need to deduct points from the team, not the driver!

Because some teams have been penalised already this season. Vettel is fighting Hamilton - he was at the back of the grid a few weeks ago as he had to take new parts. Let's say it's abandoned next week. Does that mean Lewis could take new engine parts and end up on pole? That wouldn't be fair. You could deduct points from Mercedes, but they have already celebrated winning the constructors championship. You are only left with fining them - they are rich.

    Won't happen until next year.

What happens to the "replaced" engines and gearboxes?  Do they just go for scrap, or can they be rebuilt/refurbished?

Here's something trivial. How tall are these guys: Steve Jones, Mark Webber, David Coulthard, and Toto Wolff?

Eddie Jordan and Christian Horner look positively like midgets standing next to them!!!    :)
