Thanks. Covid death in the family ... and caring duties kept me away.

Mazepin has still got the Haas drive.

    Twitter is going nuts.

Nice to see you back bud, sorry to hear that, take care. As a reluctant Amazon subscriber would love to see them streamed on prime.

I'm guessing they literally can't afford to fire him.

Not unless they want a little 'visitation' by the Russian Mafia.

  • Knighthood for Lewis.  Not unsurprising.

The greatest of all time - well deserved.

Richly deserved.  While we’re on the topic, there’s another Englishman with 10 F1 World Championships and over 150 Grand Prix wins under his belt who deserves similar recognition.  He even lives in the UK.

Looks like Daimler has said no to Hamilton's demands for $50 million per annum.

Pricing himself out of the market on purpose...?  I've had a feeling for a while that he'd rather be doing other things.

Just negotiating, most likely. As the most successful driver ever he will want to at least ask for a pay rise. Doesn’t mean it’s a dealbreaker for him. I can’t see him editing before title #8. After that, I don’t think anyone would blame him

  • I can never understand when you hear about superstar sportsmen negotiating contracts with wage demands. Whether it's Lewis Hamilton, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lebron James etc, why do they need to quibble over a few million here or there?

Surely Lewis could retire now, or drive for minimum wage for a few years, and still have enough cash in the bank to live in outrageous luxury for the rest of his life?

With team budgets capped at $145 million (excluding driver salaries), Daimler cutting jobs worldwide by 30,000, and the driver wage bill being capped at $30 million between the two drivers from 2023, demanding a $200 million four year deal is taking the piss magnificently.

George Russell would do it for less.

There was an interview where Totto Wolfe qualified the value that F1 had put on the Merc brand; I don't recall the number, though.

It is a bit shabby sharing the amount with the press, IMHO.

Yes - let's go back to the good old days where the players got a weekly wage and the money all went to the men in smoke-filled rooms.

I really doubt that what been put forward is as simple as a guaranteed £50 mil a year and if you don’t ask, you don’t get. From an entertainment point of view I’d rather see Russell in the car but F1 is about making a winning brand and no one on the grid does that better than Sir Lewis.
