Perez, LeClerc if the Ferrari somehow keeps running, Alonso.

Grid positions today should make for a far more interesting race - at last and thank god - Expect it to be far less of that zoom ahead and stay there approach

Yeah it should be interesting at least. Reasonably safe bet we’ll get a safety car or 2 as well. I just hope that doesn’t t give Max & Charles a quick jump to the top 5 without any effort!

I’d like Max to get in the lead with a display of amazing skill and then make an unforced error on the last lap and finish 11th.

I’m so bored I might as well be listening to Pink Floyd

  • This track layout is ripe for safety cars, so could go all sorts of different ways really. Looking forward to the race a damn sight more than I was before qualifying!

Yes, but not if half of it is run behind a safety car!

Any reason Alonso SHOULDN'T get a penalty?
    Red ones are better.

What a rubbish race that was. FIA were team Redbull yet again. Alonso penalty was a nonsense. He gained no advantage by being inches to the left in the grid box. The safety car wasn’t needed but there we are, safety car comes out to help MV. I just don’t know why I watch it anymore.

I missed they gave Alonso another penalty. Honestly what a joke.

All those bits of meticulous, expert punditry by Anth Davidson and Karun, breaking the footage down frame by frame and explaining why the penalty was correct are now looking a bit silly!

I thought it was a decent enough race. Probably would have been crap if not for verstappen's quali breakdown. My biggest takeaway from the race was seeing how much of a dramatic difference there is between the efficacy of the different teams' DRS designs.

I'd always assumed the speed differential gained from the DRS were broadly similar across the grid. Watching the race, the Red Bull's DRS was insanely effective (looked like he'd hit a speed boost on Mario Kart or something!) whereas the McLaren's seemed to make almost no difference at all when trying to get past Sargeant.

Well that was boring. I really hope either Ferrari or Merc get their cars more competitive and challenge Red Bull very soon.

Glad Alonso kept his podium place in the end, all this FIA rule nit-pickery will do is put off the casual fans.

Can we just take a moment to wonder at the beauty of the Saudi Arabian national anthem, as played by people who prefer counting petrodollars to practicing their instruments?

Well, despite the Leclerc and Max grid penalties, it was more boring than I anticipated. It’s a shitty track, like driving round an illuminated industrial estate. Did Fred get reinstated? Didn’t see that.
