I don't know how old his son is but if it has only recently become apparent that he's left handed it's possible the sale is premature anyway. I'd say if you can play a right handed instrument you should just to avoid limiting the choice of guitars in future.

This discussion has in fact suggested she try her cello left-handed. Not something she has ever been granted the opportunity to do but it might help her playing. Could affect where she sits in the orchestra though.
Leave the guy alone, let him do his thing.
On the subject of LHD versus RHD vehicles, at work, most of our vehicles are LHD, whereas my car is RHD and it never seems much of a problem to switch. Back with musical instruments however, an interesting one is, as many people have commented, why the left hand on right handed guitars is the one typically doing most of the intricate work, which is the complete opposite of piano, where the left hand is the one kind of on rhythm autopilot whilst the right hand does most of the melody.
But having said that, the toughest thing for me when learning to play guitar and sing at the same time, was getting my right hand to go on strumming and picking autopilot when singing something with a different melody or rhythm. Took me a long time to suss that one out.
He actually did a video on it when he bought it, saying that he wanted his son to have a "birth year" guitar in case he started playing one day.
